Differences between using solar air conditioner

Most solar AC systems are hybrid, meaning they use traditional electricity sources in addition to solar power. Hybrid systems are more popular in very hot environments where it's necessary to run the AC at night (when there's no sun) to keep comfortable. Naturally, DC air conditioners are more energy-efficient than AC air conditioners. Besides, having an additional inverter result in more energy losses. Hence, this type of solar air conditioner often has a lower efficiency than hybrid solar air conditioners and pure solar air conditioners.

Not all air conditioning units are compatible with solar power. Retrofitting existing systems can be complex and costly. Solar-powered AC systems perform best in sunny climates with minimal seasonal variation, such as the Southwest United States, parts of Australia, or Mediterranean regions.
